Sunday15 April 2018 Open Spring Show, Chard Equestrian  Showground, Somerset.  A very wet, cold and windy day, but inspite of the weather everyone appeared to have a good day.  Thank goodness the new permament building was ready for use so the Secretary's Office, Toilets and Cafe were all in there.  The cafe had a very large seating area with several leather reclining sofas as well as table and chairs overlooking the outdoor arena.  Many thanks to all the judges & stewards, Eve Holt on the PA system, Sara Glazebrook handling entries etc with the Show Secretary Sue Hardy.  They all deserve medals for working so hard all day.

Sunday10 December 2017 CHRISTMAS LUNCH and AWARDS PRESENTATION FOR PERFORMANCE COMPETITION, IN HAND POINTS COMPETITION AND YOUNG ADULT HANDLER OF THE YEAR.  Gipsy Hill Hotel, Monkerton, Exeter, Devon EX1 3RN.  The In Hand Awards were presented to the recipients by Jess Talbot  and the Performance Points Scheme by the organiser Anna Richards with the help of George Whisker.  Many thanks to Nicki McGuire for organising the presentation of the In hand rosettes as Roberta Jones is away in South Africa..  We are very grateful to Anna for runnning the Performance competetion over the last few years, not an easy task.  As Anna is now very busy with showing ponies, taking a University course and painting course amongst many other things she has handed the organisation over to Sara Glazebrook from 2017/18.  The pipe cleaner competition was very popular and was judged by Sylvia and Christine from the Gypsy Hill Hotel.  They had quite a job, the artistic talent of our members and family are amazing.  The winner of the Younger Section was Annanbel Rodd with a reinderr and carrot and the older Section by Claire Rafferty with a Santa Claus complete with sleigh and reindeer..  The Christmas Lunch was one of the best we have ever had.  Happy Christmas everyone!!!

This is an appeal for anyone who has ever won a SWA cup or trophy to look and see if they have still got it, we are missing a few cups and in spite of the signed receipts accepting full responsibility whilst in their care, people deny still having them.   Before going to the expense of replacing these missing cups, we would ask everyone to check extra carefully.   If you find you do have one of the SWA’s cups please return it to a committee member or the relevant show secretary.   We intend to start a list of people who have not returned cups and they will not be allowed to take any in the future and we may publish in the Spring Newsletter a list of those cups for which we have receipts but which the people who signed for them deny having.    PLEASE CONTACT  Hon. Secretary: Sue Hardy Tel: 01935 872069  Briar Thicket, Ryme Road ,Yetminster, Sherborne, Dorset DT9 6JY  Email suehardy.briarth@btinternet.com
